Golf Swing Fundamentals – Weight Transfer
Weight transfer is an important fundamental of the golf swing. Failure to get your weight shifted forward at impact in one of the causes of slicing the ball. If you seldom hit a draw or a hook, you should look at where your weight is at impact.
A good practice drill to help golfers get their weight shifted to the forward leg is the step drill. This drill will also help you to use your legs as a power source.
For the step drill, you setup as you would to play an iron shot. Next place your front foot back to your rear foot (feet together). Swing your golf club back and stop at the top. Now step forward into the shot, rotate your hips a bit and let your club swing through impact and complete your follow through. At first try this slowly to get your sequencing, timing and balance.
Try this drill and I know you will see an improvement in your golf swing.
